Kiev Passage (1999) Is a compilation of images and essays based on a two year stay (1995-97) in Kiev, Ukraine. I went to Ukraine with my husband and our two young sons to this Newly Independent State (NIS). It wasn’t my first visit. I first visited Ukraine in 1969 on a foreign exchange trip to the Soviet Union. The essays reflect my navigation of the new and old Ukraine. The images document the dying look of the Soviet Union with the rise of western life as it was pasted onto the past.
